Toddler Treats

Toddlers can be extremely picky eaters. Thankfully our generation has this brilliant, what would we do without it, life hack, app called Pinterest. Pinterest is simply brilliant. If you aren't very creative *raises hand* you can find a ton of DIY projects that will make you look like a pro!

I have found some amazing ideas on Pinterest that has helped me tackle my toddlers picky eater stage.

* Ice Cube Tray
You can find an ice cube tray at a Dollar Tree for a dollar. Who would've known this simple little thing that most of us have would come in handy for something other than ice? This idea gives you a variety of options to allow your toddler to choose and it is small portions so if they don't like it, it's not so wasteful! How cute is that? Fruit trays, momables (lunchables), veggies, nuts, meats, all types of foods.

* Sauce Cups
Seriously, why didn't I ever think of this before?! Kids love to dip things! My toddler loves dipping. I purchased cute little sauce cups and bowls for her to have with her meals. She'll dip anything. It's like food paint. She loves it!

*Spooky Edition*
As we do not celebrate Halloween in my home, I would love to see what your little ones will be wearing for Halloween this year? Share with me on Instagram @zobosmommy and you'll be entered to win an iMonster feeding set from Nuby! Comment your Instagram name below.

Hectic Life, Happy Toddler

Life can be hectic but children bring a special type of joy and sunshine.

Life updates:
1) Zoey can spell her name out loud!  We are still working on saying the letter y but she gets it and sounds off the next letter before you do!

2) Potty time! Zoey has been going to the potty now for a full whole week! She gets so upset if you don't let her go to the potty! Most of the time she only wants to sit in the potty to swing her legs, wipe, flush, and then slam the seat down (lol). We have started to get some tinkles in there *happy dance*.

3) ABCs, 123s. Zoey is sounding off the numbers! She lobes to repeat after you.

I have been so excited about her new developments. I do believe I'm raising a genius!

When It's Worth It To Spend a Little More

Our vintage washer and dryer set with fashionable wood paneling design finally decided to stop working. This set was in our home when we purchased it and while I was thankful to have something already in place, I was always less than excited to do the washing in our rustic rusted 1970's antique.

On a recent morning my husband went down to the dryer to find that the load of laundry sitting inside was still damp and a piece of the dryer had come apart. It was finally telling us, "I'm just so tired, let me rest!" We knew it was getting to be time to buy a new set, but we like to wait until the absolute last moment. On a recent trip to Sears we found a set that was good enough. It was definitely newer, and had to be better than our current set and lastly it was the most affordable option.

I was excited about the idea of new laundry facilities but not overly excited, because after all it is just a washer and dryer right?

After a week of not doing laundry, and my husband reminiscing about me hand washing, and stain treating out of buckets on our dining room floor, he took matters into his own hands and decided to get the washer of my dreams.  I saw on TV and went googly eyes for.

Ok...So really my husband realized we deserved better ;)

The washer is a Samsung Top Load with Active Wash and our Dryer is a Samsung Electric Front Load. This set was a definite upgrade for us (as any working set would have been) but after looking at the specs and financial side of things we realized we only had to spend a little bit more to get a really great set and one that would make doing our washing a pleasant experience. Gone are the days of soaking clothing in tubs around the dining room floor!

Even Lu was mesmerized!

We were able to snag our pair from Sears and added on multiple discounts, free delivery, used a mileage earning credit card with warranty protection and in no time we were back in clean clothes again!

While a dial and buzzer setup would be just fine for our little family, by spending just a couple hundred dollars more we were able to get something that made things several times easier. Pre-soaking for Lu's clothes would have still been a manual process, and our time and effort is worth something. In the end, spending just 20% more than the cheapest set we could find will add far more than 20% more value to our lives. When you add back the value our credit card gave us with the additional warranty, the points we will earn from the purchase (used for half of a free plane ticket to some place sunny), the money from our old set back into our pockets, and the time every week saved by doing one load instead of two - it provides way more value than the money spent to get the better set over the basic. And that's just it. We spend lots of time and energy trying to save money when sometimes, what turns out to be a little more expensive upgrade works out to be a LOT more worth it.

What upgrades have you made around the house or day to day that have made life just a little bit easier?

XOXO- Carly

Hello Football, plus 2 recipes

Hello Football!!

It's game day, football season and my household couldn't be more excited. We love this time of the year because we love to get together with our friends and family for some fun, talking mess(as we are cowboys fans, and they are texans fans), cheering, high fives, laughter, good food and dessert, and of course lots of memories being made, oh yeah and kids running around having fun.

Today is the first game of the season and nothing big plan, just staying home I'm making burgers for dinner and we have chips and dips for us as well. In the meantime we wait until our team plays which is tonight against the gaints.

Two of my favorite dips I love during football season especially is spinach dip and ranch dip.

Spinach dip recipe
1 pack of Korr Vegetable Mix
Frozen/thew out spinach or fresh
One cup of mayo
One 16 Oz sour cream
A can of water chestnuts chopped

Hehehe I can't take all the credit the recipe is in back on the Korr Vegetable Mix just in case.

And of course get a pack of hidden Valley Ranch dip and a sour cream, and if you have yourself your ranch dip once you mix it in a bowl together. I serve my ranch dip with ruffles. Than the spinach dip I put it in a Hawaiian bread the bowl shape one, just make a bowl in it and use the pieces to eat with the dip or crackers of your choice.

Now I share two recipes that I love, and how we love football season.

How about you share your recipes with me? Do you love football, if so what is your favorite team?

Style Inspiration

Hello Babes!

Check out this Style Inspiration Board I created featuring some of our favorite shops and brands!

top left: Confetti Babe top right: Little Rascals Shop
bottom left: Target bottom right: Desigual Kids

I have a hard time putting a label on the type of style I dress my daughter in. Some days we are girly, some days we are trendy and some days we love anything that feels comfy! Whatever the style may be labeled as, I really have fun dressing up my little gal in funky, bright, and whimsical threads.

This inspiration post first came to me while I was shopping at Super Target and I happened to score an awesome pair of Circo hi-tops on mega clearance. I previously found these hi-tops at full price and knew we had to have them but I could not find the size we needed and I left the store feeling defeated by my pal, ST!

When I returned a few days later for other miscellaneous (and very important items I'm sure) I thought I would just stroll by the shoes and check to see if they had the size I was looking for.

Well let me just tell you, not only did they have more size but they were marked down to around $9!!!

I was excited and already feeling like a total Momstar when I then decided had the genius idea to check my Cartwheel app (if you do not have this app you need it) and found that all clearance shoes were an additional 25% off. I grabbed 3 pairs of various clearance shoes and made a mad dash to the check out aisle where they all rang up for a grand total of $13.98!

With my Lucy's new shoes ready for wearing, I started thinking up some fun outfits to put together such as this one below which she rocked the very next day.

What do you think of this outfit inspiration? Do you have a favorite "style" for your little one?

Also I would love if you have any great app recommendations for creating flat lays! Comment below!

Buy, Sell, Trade: The Riches of Resale

Buying clothes for kids can really start to add up. Sometimes the price is high but often I find things that we outgrew before we even had a chance to wear them. I consider myself a bargain shopper and cringe at the thought of throwing money away where it could have been saved.

Before I was a mom, I loved shopping for myself. (Okay, I still love it.) I discovered Poshmark, an app where you can buy and sell clothes straight out of your closet. The idea was simple and the process was quite painless. I never cared much for eBay and loved that when an item from my closet sold on Poshmark, the app would automatically email me a shipping label (which the buyer paid for) and all I was left to do was package up the item(s), put the label on, and drop it in the mail. A few days later the funds from my sale would be deposited into my account balance and I could cash out the balance or spend it on other's items for sale within the app.

Once Lucy started to outgrow her clothes I found myself hanging on to certain items that I felt still held value. I wasn't exactly hoarding them for the possibility of a future sibling, but I just couldn't get myself to donate those adorable Kickee Pants, or unique boutique dresses. I was on the hunt for something similar to Poshmark but for children's clothing. I found a couple of apps and they were okay. I also found a few pages on Facebook locally and nationally where you can buy, sell and trade children's clothing according to the page's brand, rules, and criteria. I also created an Instagram account solely for the purpose of Lucy's wardrobe buying and selling. These outlets were all helpful, but none of them proved as successful or as painless as my experiences with Poshmark.

Until one day...

I discovered Kidizen.

Kidizen is a place to buy and sell children's clothing, shoes, accessories, nesting items and maternity clothes. The app links directly with your PayPal account which makes buying and selling a secured breeze, not to mention shipping! Shipping through PayPal is cheaper than visiting your local post office and once you have the packing tricks down you will be saving money left and right.

Here's another great thing about Kidizen -  It's a community.

I have found since joining Kidizen I have become a part of this wonderful community of parents, grandparents and shop owners. They also run a Facebook page, Hello Kidizen where they are always helping to promote shops, daily threads which cater to various deals, a place to bounce ideas and a space to meet some really great people. (Check out Momizens too where all kinds of topics can be discussed.)

Follow our closets here:

@SeeJayne on Poshmark @AnotherBabyMaybe on Kidizen

There is a reason I felt the need to hang on to some items that held value and that reason is that they ARE valuable. There is a certain joy in letting go of things and sending them off to carry on their beautiful purpose in the home of someone else who will love that something just as much as you did. It also doesn't hurt that you make a little money along the way to "re-invest" back into your child's new wardrobe. Since I have started in this wonderful world of resale, I have made an average of $300-$1000 per month off of items I have that are no longer being used in our home. The average fluctuates depending on the season, but some items I have sold have even generated a profit over what I purchased the item for originally.

I encourage you to check out these apps and find out for yourself just how much money you have hanging up in your closets!

Check out these referral codes, use them when you sign up and we could both be entered in a chance to win an awesome giveaway on Kidizen and an automatic $5 to spend on Poshmark:

Poshmark Referral Code: HGLJF

Nuby Brand Rep

Hey there mamas! We're super excited that we were chosen as brand reps for Nuby! We have a ton of Nuby products and it only seemed right to rep something that we use daily and absolutely love!

Here are some of our favorites that we have gotten to try.

Cool Insulated cup: This cup is AWESOME! It was challenging at first for Zoey and she wanted nothing to do with it. I put it off for awhile. We were out and that was the only cup that we had because it was extremely hot.  I gave her the cup and she went at it like a pro! That cup goes everywhere with her now! She loves it!

Flower Child Snack Keeper: The name speaks for itself! It keeps snacks in place. I don't think I can picture myself picking up scattered goldfish anymore (lol). This is an amazing product.

No Spill Cups with Lids and Straws: This is another favorite because it's a "big girl" cup and she loves doing big girl things! The cups don't leak! She loves having the straws! They are temper tantrum safe!

Bath numbers and letters: We love these. I love these because I can just put them in the bath with her and they stick to the walls and tub so easily! They are a breeze to clean up and lots of fun to play with!

I would totally recommend all of these products! Make sure to follow me on Instagram @zobosmommy and Nuby @nubyusa

Easy, Breezy, Summer Recipe

Here in the northeastern part of the country it feels like summer has just arrived, and at the same time I am already getting excited for fall. I have been secretly dreaming about dressing Lucy in shades of mustard, navy and burnt orange, while sipping something pumpkin flavored and cuddling under a blanket. Oh, not to mention watching college football.

However since summer has decided to make a late debut, I was feeling the urge to cook a delicious summertime meal and found myself scouring Pinterest. (Because let’s just throw one more cliché into this post.)

I found some great, light, easy meals but decided this one was the easiest of them all.
It was amazing and a huge success in this household.

We substituted white wine vinegar for the white wine, used regular fettucine, and for our veggies we stuck with broccoli and added grape tomatoes. Here was our end result:

Enjoy!

Out of Town Visitor

Hi blog mamas!! My brother is in town! I can't convey the excitement that I feel being able to see him again after almost 1 year!

My brother moved to Chicago with his wife so that she could complete her residency at a hospital in Chicago. They have been there for two years now. Last Thanksgiving we visited them there in Chicago. It has almost been a year since we have seen him. He got a break from work and decided to come home.

I was excited but also nervous. I was nervous because my daughter was a baby then but now she's a tad bit older and I was worried that she may be shy or not recognize him. That nervousness turned into a little fear because I didn't want his feelings to be hurt if she didn't want to approach him. They talk on the phone often so I hoped that would help with her recognizing him. To our surprise she ran right up to him and has been absolutely smitten with him! She loves blowing him kisses and being held by him. I am extremely excited that things went well.

Have any of you mamas dealt with this? Please share your stories!

My brother will be here for a full week. I will update with more pictures!

Have Child, Still Travel

Hello Confetti Babes!

My name is Carly. I am a stay at home mom to my little girl Lucy who just turned 18 months old. My husband and I have always had a serious passion for travel. We have lived in England, Thailand and are now back in the good ol' US of A, but we never know just how long we will be here.  We tend to get the itch if we stay in one place for too long and we jump at opportunities to live and work abroad. Since being married almost seven years, we have visited over 50 countries, traveled 6 continents and shared 12 countries (and adding) with our traveling toddler.

Lucy and I in Barcelona, Spain

When we announced our pregnancy to friends and family, we had a lot of people tell us we wouldn't be able to travel the world anymore, and we were out to prove the skeptics wrong. Traveling with an infant/toddler can be tricky, but there are plenty of ways to make your travels stress free and I love sharing my secrets. I also write a mommy travel blog that you can read here.

Lucy at The Great Wall of China

I will be sharing blurbs from daily life such as must have, must do, and must eat! I look forward to sharing more with you all soon!

Beat The Heat

Hey mamas! Whew it's HOT out! The blistering heat has forced me to be creative with ways to keep my sweet babe cool while enjoying outdoor playtime.
Zoey LOVES being outside. She doesn't care what the weather is like, she wants to be outside. She knows how to get shoes (a matching pair) and waves to say bye bye when she's ready to go outside. Right now during the summer heat it can be very hot and we have created some fun ways to beat the heat.
Frozen yogurt pops! I purchased a Popsicle container from IKEA just because last year and never used it. Zoey loves yogurt and I figured it would be a fun idea to freeze them! I put a scoop of fruit in them first and then pour some yogurt in them. They have been a hit with her!
Waterhose sprinkler! I pulled out an old water hose and punched a ton of holes in it. I hooked it up and turned it one. Free water park! Zoey absolutely loves running through it.
What are some fun ways you and your babes like to beat the heat?
Happy Summer!

Beach Trip

We're planning Zoey's first beach trip. I'm a tad bit paranoid about it. I'm not sure how she'll like it or what exactly to pack.

Going to the beach with a toddler in tow turns it into an entirely different trip. Seems like the bags have doubled and and tripled in weight.

The list:
-Sunscreen
-Swimsuit
-Flip flops
-Swim diapers
-Water toys
-Beach towel
-Snacks (can't forget snacks)
-Camera
-Road trip toys
-Shorts, tanks, and sundresses

What are some other things that make your toddlers beach trips easy and manageable? A great bag to tote beach items in? A beach fairy? Any tips to adjust toddler to the beach water?
Let's get ready for some fun in the sun!

Summa, summa, summa time!

Hey mamas! Ahhhhh, life has been so hectic! There has been so much going on.
A few updates about life and Zoey. She has undergone some testing with her growth hormone because she isn't meeting her growth chart expectations. She is still under the 3 percentile for her age and weight. Developmentally she has exceeded expectations and is very advanced for her age.
Tons of blood work and testing, my babe deserves a vacay. We have a few summer beach trips lined up and her first zoo trip!
We have an AMAZING photographer find that turned out to be our neighbor! She takes amazing shots of my sweet Zo. I can't help myself but to share them. Hope you guys enjoy
