As a 13 year old sitting in homeroom waiting for the teacher to take attendance, I remember seeing my principal run by the door and seeing teachers fling open their doors and run from their classroom. We had no idea that at that very moment, our lives were changed.
The teachers were called to an emergency meeting while the students sat in anticipation. Once my homeroom teacher returned she turned on the television and all you could see was smoke and dust. I'll never forget it because we all sat in confusion wondering what was going on. At that very moment I bowed my head and prayed. I had no idea what I was praying for but I prayed for the safety of everyone that day.
9/11 has forever changed this world. It has changed how we fly, our security, how we view people who look different than us.
I pray today for peace for the families who have lost their loved ones on this day 13 years ago. I pray that they find some sort of comfort.
Hug your loved ones a little tighter today and if you can't physically hug them, give them a call.

Breathtaking photos
